Translation of Advertising Content

Something New

Recently I had an exciting order – the Wałbrzych Culture Center commissioned me to translate advertising content regarding the center’s offer. It was a general description of the institution’s activities and announcements related to the organization and the promotion of various events. It was challenging to me as the advertisement’s content contained slogans that were a particular play of words. Individual letters in the password formed the words: art, culture, and recreation, which I had to keep in translation. So it was a kind of puzzle to solve, and such translation tasks I like.

Types of advertising content to translate

There is an infinite number of them. The content of an ad for translation can consist of individual slogans, leaflets, or entire websites. The content itself is as diverse as my clients are. Advertising texts for translation are sent by restaurant owners, cultural centers, online store administrators – the variety of orders is wide. Having different language versions of your offer, regardless of what and where you sell, is now mandatory if you want to be taken seriously. Of course, you can always run your text through the translator, but the result will be quite the opposite of the intended one.

How to send text for translation

It’s always best to send texts in an editable text file, regardless of what format. Alternatively, if there is no other option, you can also send the PDF text for translation, as the English translator can handle it. However, I would advise against sending e.g., only links to a website, especially one with many pages and additional files to download. In this chaos of content, the English translator may overlook something or charge you too much – it’s always best to decide what you want to translate precisely and in what order. And this is best done in the already mentioned text file.
